According to the NYPost, the shooting stems from a March incident at a Marine Park, Brooklyn party hall where a 31-year-old man was reportedly shot in his left foot. The victim gave police a description before being transferred to Brookdale University Hospital.

22Gz had been staying in Atlanta since the shooting and made his way to New York to perform at this year’s Hot 97 Summer Jam. However, according to TMZ, the arrest was made the morning of.

Born Jeffrey Mark Alexander, the “Twirlanta” rapper has also been charged with second-degree assault, two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and first-degree reckless endangerment.

Back in 2017, 22Gz was accused of allegedly killing a man over a parking spot in Miami. Prosecutors later dropped the charges after Alexander served several months in prison.
