Last week, J. Cole took to social to announce his sixth studio album, The Off-Season.

Accompanied by a new track titled, “i n t e r l u d e,” J. Cole officially kicked off his album campaign in full gear, as he’s been seen everywhere this week. On Tuesday (May 11), J. Cole graced the cover of the June/July issue of Slam Magazine, being the first rapper to do so. Inside the official cover story, Cole addressed the retirement conversations stating he won’t confirm when he will actually retire, but he is certainly laying down the foundation.

“Oh, bro, I’m super comfortable with the potential of being done with this shit. But I’m never going to say, Oh, this is my last album,” Cole tells SLAM. “Because I never know how I’m going to feel two years, three years, four years down the line, 10 years down the line, but please believe, I’m doing all this work for a reason.”

Prior to the magazine’s cover release, news surfaced that Cole is reportedly joining the Rwanda Patriots BBC in the inaugural season of the Basketball Africa League.

As things come full circle, Cole returns with The Off-Season. Giving us a behind-the-scenes look with his latest documentary, “Applying Pressure: The Off-Season Documentary,” J. Cole returns with 12 tracks, with production handled by Timbaland, boi-1da, Frank Dukes, T-Minus, and several others.

Executive produced by J. Cole, T-Minus, and Ibrahim Hamad, stream The Off-Season below.
