BET & Youtube Are Bringing Back ‘Freestyle Friday’

Published

Freestyle Friday was known to always be the highlight of the week on BET’s former syndicated show, 106 & Park. With BET now partnering with Youtube for future content including the BET Experience, BET Awards, and many more endeavors, the entertainment network has announced that they’re setting things off by bringing back Freestyle Friday! As of yesterday (March 16), the network has kicked off their search to find the hottest MCs across the 50 states.

Starting in New York, rappers who want a shot are to subscribe to BET’s YouTube Channel and upload a video of themselves rapping with the #FreestyleFridayBET hashtag in the ‘tag’ section. If chosen, two rappers will go head to head in a non-stop livestream at the Youtube studios. Showing off the lyrical abilities in 60 seconds or less against their opponent, a winner will be chosen from New York, Toronto, London and Los Angeles, and will be entered into the top 10 by a radio DJ from each city, respectively.

The final four standing will be flown to Los Angeles and battle one another in front of a panel of celebrity judges at the Fan Fest main stage at the BET Experience. The winner of the battle will earn the opportunity to be the opening act for the BET Experience hip hop show at the Staple Center on June 23.
