Bobby Shmurda Denied Parole, Will Remain Incarcerated Until 2021
Brooklyn rapper Bobby Shmurda, born Ackquille Pollard, has been denied parole and will not be granted early release, according to TMZ.
The news comes as a shock, especially for Pollard’s mother, Leslie, who was confident in the rapper’s release. Shmurda was arrested back in 2014 on conspiracy to murder, weapons and drug possession. The following year, the “Hot N*gga” artist received an extended sentence after being caught with a “sharp metal object” on Rikers Island.
In 2016, Shmurda took a global plea deal alongside Chad “Rowdy Rebel” Marshall, where he pleaded guilty to 4th-degree conspiracy, which carried a sentence of 1-3 years, and 2nd-degree criminal weapons possession, which carried a sentence of 7 years. Shmurda has served six years behind bars.
The release of new music was contingent upon Shmurda’s early release. Bobby Shmurda is expected to continue to serve his full sentence, remaining behind bars until December 2021.
