Cardi B Drops “Imaginary Playerz” Single & Video Ahead of ‘Am I the Drama?’ Album Release
Cardi B is running the scoreboard again with the release of her new single “Imaginary Playerz,” out now as the second drop from her upcoming sophomore album Am I the Drama?, arriving September 19. The Bronx rapper puts her own spin on a title made famous by JAY-Z’s 1997 cut from In My Lifetime, Vol. 1—and yes, she got the blessing from Hov himself before making it happen.
Produced by DJ SwanQo, OctaneThisThatGas and Sean Island, “Imaginary Playerz” finds Cardi in full flex mode, rapping about platinum plaques, million-dollar moves, and outshining the competition, all while dripping in archive couture. The record mirrors the competitive, money-talk spirit of JAY-Z’s original without losing her trademark Bronx energy. She first teased the track earlier this week, telling fans, “Just a lil taste of the drama. IMAGINARY PLAYERS THIS FRIDAY. Pre-Save with the album.. link in bio.”
Alongside the single comes a self-directed visual co-directed by Patientce Foster, capturing Cardi living a luxury rap dream—stunting in a striking red gown, boarding private planes, surrounded by the fast life and heavy ice. The visuals match the slick yet rugged feel of the record, making it clear why Cardi commands the kind of respect she does.
Cardi has been open about the significance of this release. During a recent livestream, she revealed she had to get it “approved by the one and only” before it could drop. While she never said JAY-Z’s name directly, fans connected the dots. “If he didn’t approve it, I probably wouldn’t have felt a certain type of way… I would have just come a little harder,” she said. “But I’m glad that I came hard and he loved it.”
“Imaginary Playerz” follows her single “Outside” and joins “WAP” and “Up” on Am I the Drama?, which will feature 23 tracks in total. The album’s rollout has already tied Invasion of Privacy for the most Hot 100 #1s on a female rap album before release day.
Back in June, Cardi officially announced Am I the Drama? with a moody teaser featuring a black raven, ominous narration, and her promise: “Seven years of love, life, and loss. Seven years I gave them grace. But now, I give them hell. I’m not your villain, I’m your karma.”

Tyla and Zara Larsson Drop New Single “She Did It Again”
Tyla and Zara Larsson seem to have broken the internet with “She Did It Again,” their new collaborative single. Produced by Ari PenSmith, the track serves as the second single from forthcoming sophomore album A-Pop. Fans have already drawn comparisons between the “She Did It Again” video and Beyoncé and Shakira‘s 2007 “Beautiful Liar.”
Tyla teased the collaboration last week with hidden figure images in the single’s cover art, leaving fans to guess who the featured artist was. The collaborator was revealed to be Zara Larsson on Wednesday, April 15.
“No ordinary love, this is propane, no, it’s not safe / Baby, this a dangerous game for you / Baby, this is all child’s play to me,” Tyla sings on the track.
“She Did It Again” follows “Chanel,” which Tyla released in October and has continued to chart on the Billboard Hot 100. Tyla announced A-Pop at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards on earlier this year. Her self-titled debut arrived in 2024, and she has since released the WWP EP featuring Wizkid ahead of this new era.
