Last August, Fetty Wap pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess and distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine following his October 2021 arrest, while en route to his Rolling Loud: New York.

The New Jersey native, born William Maxwell, was arrested in connection to an indictment alongside five other individuals, including a New Jersey corrections officer.

Fetty Wap’s legal team is now asking for the minimum of five years, stating that he “began to struggle to keep up the lifestyle that he created for so many,” according to Billboard. His lawyers state that, “[Maxwell’s] judgment became impaired. Desperate to keep up with his financial obligations, Mr. Maxwell became involved in the instant offense for a few months in the spring of 2020.”

Fetty Wap is expected to be sentenced later this month.
