Nominated for 8 Grammy’s tonight and receiving the 2018 Icons Award, Jay-Z sat down with Van Jones for an exclusive 11-minute interview where they talk about Donald Trump’s recent distasteful comments, Colin Kaepernick, the #MeToo movement, his relationship with Beyonce, telling his truth on 4:44, and parenthood.
JAY-Z on Donald Trump’s “shithole countries” comment:
“Everyone feels anger, but after the anger it’s really hurtful because he’s looking down on a whole population of people and he’s so misinformed because these places have beautiful people.”
On Colin Kaepernick being a hero, fighting against social injustices:
“Would you rather be playing football getting your head dinged in or would you rather be an iconic figure for the rest of your life?.”
JAY-Z on mending his marriage with Beyoncé:
“For us, we chose to fight for our love. For our family. To give our kids a different outcome. To break that cycle for black men and women.”
