After six years, it has been announced that iconic mogul L.A. Reid will be resigning as chairman of Epic Records and thus parting ways with Sony Music. Joining the label back in July of 2011, L.A. Reid has been responsible for the signings of Jidenna, Future, Travis Scott, Fifth Harmony, and DJ Khaled, who’s single, “I’m The One” secured the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100. The music executive also brought Mariah Carey to the label after leaving his position as chairman of Island Def Jam.

There is no word on what will be next for L.A. Reid, however, he currently serves as the executive producer of the upcoming Fox event series, ‘Cotton Club.’ Just last year, he released his memoir, Sing to Me: My Story of Making Music, Finding Magic, and Searching for Who’s Next.
