Lil Durk Faces $12 Million Lawsuit Over Alleged Song Rights Sale Breach

Lil Durk is facing legal troubles as Fintech company Exceed Talent Capital has filed a lawsuit against him. The complaint, lodged with the US District Court for the Southern District of New York on December 6, alleges that Lil Durk, born Durk Derrick Bank, along with his business manager Andrew Bonsu and label Only The Family Entertainment, attempted to sell the rights to his song “Bedtime” to Exceed Talent Capital while being under an exclusive contract with Sony Music Entertainment’s Alamo Records.
Exceed Talent Capital asserts that they acquired the rights to “Bedtime” for $600,000, only to later discover that Lil Durk had already assigned the exact same rights to a third party. The partnership between Exceed and Lil Durk, announced last fall, began with the introduction of a “Trenches All-Access Pass” NFT, offering fans exclusive access to a private Grand Theft Auto roleplay server created by Lil Durk and his OTF Gaming company.
In May, Exceed says they were notified by Alamo Records via a demand letter about Durk’s exclusive recording agreement, and as a result, neither they nor distributor Empire had the rights to assign any interest in revenue streams generated by “Bedtime.” According to documents obtained by Music Business Worldwide, Exceed was forced to “return the funds that had been invested by third parties in the offering, further significantly damaging Exceed’s reputation and relationships with its partners and investors.”
Exceed, which had reportedly paid $450,000 of the $600,000 owed, now asserts that they have incurred $12 million in damages due to the collapsed deal.

Kodak Black Arrested For Cocaine Possession & Evidence Tampering

On Thursday (Dec. 7), Kodak Black faced legal troubles once again as he was apprehended for cocaine possession and evidence tampering in Plantation, Florida. NBC Miami reported that the Florida native was taken into custody at Broward County Jail, with additional charges of improperly parking or stopping a vehicle and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence.
The incident unfolded when an officer noticed Black’s Bentley SUV parked in a roadway. Upon approaching, the officer discovered Black asleep in the driver’s seat, detecting a strong odor of burnt cannabis coming from the vehicle. Upon further inspection, the officer found a cup in the door smelling of alcohol, as well as “cannabis wrapping paper and suspect cannabis residue” in the center console. After instructing Black to exit the SUV, he nonchalantly mentioned there was only some weed inside.
A while later, the officer observed white powder falling from Black, leading to suspicion of attempting to discard illegal narcotics. The report detailed, “The powder was visible due to the strong scene lights of my patrol vehicle.” Approaching Black, the officer noticed his mouth was “full of white powder,” leading to this arrest. White rock-like substances on the ground were identified as Percocet by Black, but subsequent testing confirmed it to be cocaine.
Black’s recent arrest comes on the heels of his July 2022 arrest, where he faced charges of drug trafficking. Authorities discovered 31 pills, alleged to be oxycodone, in his possession, along with over $70,000 in cash.

Tsu Surf Sentenced to Five Years in Prison and $15,000 Fine After Pleading Guilty to RICO Conspiracy and Weapons Charges

Rahjon Cox, known as Tsu Surf, has been sentenced to five years in prison, three years of supervised release, and fined $15,000 by U.S. District Judge Susan D. Wigenton following his October 2022 federal RICO indictment, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office District of New Jersey.
The charges included one count of racketeering conspiracy and one count of possession of firearms and ammunition as a convicted felon. Additionally, the 32-year-old was accused of active involvement in the Rollin’ 60s Neighborhood Crips sect, particularly with the Silverbacc Gorillas (SBG).
Initially, the stakes were even higher, with Surf confronting the possibility of a 30-year prison term. The racketeering conspiracy charge alone carried a maximum sentence of 20 years, and the felon in possession of a weapon charge could lead to an additional 10 years behind bars. Both charges also carried a fine of up to $250,000. However, in a pivotal moment, the DISPARU rapper altered his plea to guilty in April 2023, acknowledging his role in the racketeering conspiracy and admitting to possessing firearms and ammunition as a convicted felon.
The legal shift unfolded during a virtual courtroom session on Thursday, April 27, as Cox pleaded guilty to two counts outlined in the superseding indictment—specifically, Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) conspiracy and possession of firearms and ammunition by a convicted felon.
