Lil Wayne has pleaded guilty to illegally possessing a loaded weapon, Friday, Dec. 11, in a federal court in Miami.

Wayne entered his plea as a result of an incident that occurred on Dec. 23, 2019, where federal authorities received a tip that the rapper’s private jet was allegedly housing narcotics with intent to transport. When the plane landed in Miami-Opa Locak Executive Airport, authorities searched the plane, and found a loaded gold-plated Remington 1911, .45 caliber handgun, ecstasy, cocaine and oxycodone in a Coach bag.

“There is no allegation that he ever fired it, brandished it, used it or threatened to use it,” said Wayne’s attorney, Howard Srebnick. “There is no allegation that he is a dangerous person. The charge is that because he was convicted of a felony in the past, he is prohibited from possessing a firearm.”

Lil Wayne reportedly struck a plea deal with the federal government and is scheduled for sentencing in January. If convicted, the rapper faces up to 10 years in prison.
