Ari Lennox is back again with another drop! She’s certainly on a roll with her renditions of old-school classics. This time around — in collaboration with Coca-Cola — she’s dished out her own take on ‘A Kind of Magic’ by the world-renowned British rock group known as Queen

The hit single was originally penned by the band’s drummer, Roger Taylor and was used in the fantasy/action film, Highlander.  Check out this fan-made visualizer below:

‘One dream, one soul
One prize, one goal
One golden glance of what should be
(It’s a kind of magic)
One shaft of light that shows the way
No mortal man can win this day
(It’s a kind of magic)’

The different approaches to the song, from 1986 to 2022 are quite captivating.

The rock n’ roll production, especially in tandem with the Highlander’s themes of courage and immortality defines magic as something heroic and supernatural. On the other hand, Ari’s rendition defines magic as everlasting, familial love as she notes in her behind-the-scenes clip at Coke Studios.

Flipping a rock jam into rhythmic soul was a challenge that Ari conquered effortlessly. In the same video, she briefly mentions how she worked to stay true to the late Freddie Mercury‘s range and, of course, it all came together beautifully in the end.
