Marking 100 years since the birth of Nelson Mandela, the Global Citizens movement pays homage to the civil rights activist and are continuing to work towards “ending extreme poverty,” at this year’s Global Citizen Festival in Johannesburg, South Africa.

With Beyoncé and Jay-Z performing as the show’s lead headliners, the 2018 Global Citizens Festival will also feature performances by Pharrell, Ed Sheeran, Kacey Musgraves, Chris Martin, Usher, Wizkid and more at the FNB Stadium.

Following two delays, the Ashanti and Keyshia Cole VERZUZ battle finally happened Thursday, Jan. 21.

Followed by the battle between E-40 and Too Short, the anticipation for the battle between Keyshia Cole and Ashanti had fizzled out a bit after the first delay when Ashanti caught COVID back in December. As cases continue to rise, the VERZUZ production team thought it would be safer to conduct the battle remotely.

With over a million people watching, despite Keyshia Cole’s tardiness, Ashanti and Cole went head to head for almost two hours.
