Kicking off her Pink Friday 2 era, Nicki Minaj returns with the album’s leading single, “Last Time I Saw You.” Previously teased on TikTok and Instagram Live, the new record is one of the rapper-singer’s slower ballads.
“Even tho reliving the memories did feel ‘sad,’ after I wrote, recorded, [and] lived [with] it, it actually made me pay more attention to the people I still DO have, and how important it is to cherish them and have fun NOW in the moment,” she reflected on X. “Telling them how much you adore them, etc. [It] made me so happy.”
Pink Friday 2 will be Minaj’s first studio album since 2018’s Queen, which spawned the singles “Chun Li,” “Good Form” and “Barbie Dreams.” The fifth studio album is scheduled to be released on November 17 via Heavy On It/10K Projects/Capitol Records – the record label Minaj launched in April.
“Yesterday I worked on my current TOP 2 songs off [Pink Friday 2],” she tweeted last month. “The eargasms that y’all are about to have. Ooohhhh chiiiii huntyStreyyyy don’t make dat serveeeee.”
