On November 8, 1017 artist Ralo was released from federal custody, celebrating his release after a six-year stint for drug conspiracy charges. His legal journey began in April 2018 when authorities apprehended him for possessing nearly $1 million in marijuana on a private plane. Despite rejecting a plea deal, he received an eight-year sentence in June 2022, with credit for four years served and extra time off for good behavior.

Influential figures like Drake, Meek Mill, and Deion Sanders joined forces in 2021 to appeal to President Biden for Ralo’s release. While the process didn’t expedite his freedom, Ralo expressed gratitude online, acknowledging Drake’s pivotal role and the collective effort from high-ranking individuals and the hip-hop community in championing his cause. “Drake was No. 1 on that list in support of my pardon, along with dozens of other high-ranking people within our country [and] the hip hop community. We thank him and everyone [who’s] putting effort into this cause.”

Ahead of his release, Ralo dropped “97 Months,” a nine-track project featuring collaborations with Jadakiss, Hunxho, Rotimi, Rowdy Rebel, and Derez De’Shon.
