On Sunday (Sept. 25) morning, reports began circulating that Rihanna would be performing at the 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Show.

The reports come after it was announced that Taylor Swift was approached to perform at the Super LVII, however passed on the opportunity because she wanted to finish rerecording her 6 albums and is currently at 2.

A few hours later, Rihanna took to Instagram a photo of herself holding an NFL football confirming she would be the headliner at the Super Bowl LVII halftime show on Feb. 12 in Glendale, Arizona.

“Rihanna is a generational talent, a woman of humble beginnings who has surpassed expectations at every turn,” said JAY-Z in a statement. “A person born on the small island of Barbados who became one of the most prominent artists ever. Self-made in business and entertainment.”

Seth Dudowsky, NFL Head of Music, also released a statement saying: “We are thrilled to welcome Rihanna to the Apple music Super Bowl Halftime Show stage. Rihanna is a once in a generation artist who has been a cultural force throughout her career. We look forward to collaborating with Rihanna Roc Nation, and Apple Music to bring fans another historic Halftime Show performance.”
