Last Wednesday, March 9, Saba’s single named ‘Photosynthesis’ featuring Jean Deaux officially became a gold record!

The song comes from the ‘Bucket List Project‘ (2016), which is the Chicagoan rapper and record producer’s debut studio album. As the album’s title suggests, Saba’s project is about creating a list of wonders to experience before death. More importantly, Saba and collaborators like Deaux, Smino, Joseph Chilliams, etc., emphasize the drive required for checking goals off of our lists.

“How you lonely in a room with God? Never slow up, not even a pit stop”

‘Photosynthesis’ is an impactful record. Saba and Deaux rap about the tests and trials of achieving their dreams and their mission to pour their success back into their communities.

“Try to raise a family with minimum wage, what can I say?
Besides the demons, it’s reality for the people that we love
And we are the ones that will team up and tee up the party”

Saba expressed his gratitude on social media and rejoiced in his humble beginnings.

SABA on Twitter: “Man. Photosynthesis just went gold . thank y’all 🌿 that’s crazy. a song we recorded in my grandma basement bout to have a plaque 😤 let’s keep going, more otw pic.twitter.com/ksg85368n8 / Twitter”

Rapper, singer and songwriter Jean Deaux has given special thanks to Saba and the late John Walt for helping her develop her sound.

Deaux also championed that the project was an independent production, rightfully so!

‘Photosynthesis’ is the second gold record for both artists, following Saba’s ‘Sacrifices‘ and Kehlani’sHoney‘ (co-written by Deaux).
