Tory Lanez Hires Suge Knight’s Former Attorney
On Sunday (Jan. 8), details surfaced that Tory Lanez would be appearing in court ahead of his sentencing on Jan. 27, in his felony assault case where he was found guilty on all three counts in the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion.
According to the Los Angeles Superior Court database, Tory Lanez is reportedly going to court on Tuesday, January 10. However, details as to why he will be present have not yet been released.
Los Angeles journalist Meghann Cuniff revealed on Twitter that Lanez has secured a new attorney David Kenner, who represented Death Row Records’ Suge Knight and Snoop Dogg.
“Kenner is a longtime criminal defense attorney whose clients include former Death Row Records CEO Suge Knight,” Cuniff tweeted. “Anyone with actual experience in criminal law (not all lawyers) will tell you he’s joining the case a bit late: Before trial would have been better.”
Regarding Tory Lanez’s Tuesday court date, yes, there is a date listed on the jail roster. It’s not on Judge Herriford’s calendar, and he’s got a bunch of other stuff at the time. Attorney David Kenner confirmed to me last week he’s now representing Tory. pic.twitter.com/gDGlHtovzP

Rolling Stone reporter Nancy Dillion spoke with Lanez’ former lawyer, George Mgdesyan, on on why the two split ways. “I don’t do appeals,” said Mgdesyan. “So we had to get somebody on board to handle the appeal.”
Mgdesyan says he may still attend Tory’s sentencing hearing, now set for 1/27, if possible. “As a party who represented Tory and is friends with Tory, I have an interest” #ToryLanezTrial

Lanez was found guilty last month on three charges which included assault with a semiautomatic firearm, having a concealed and loaded firearm in a vehicle, and discharge of a firearm with gross negligence, following the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. He faces up to 22 years and eight months in prison, as well as deportation.
