Wale Signs New Deal with Def Jam

Wale, who has maintained a relatively low musical profile in recent years, with his last album “Floarin II” released in 2021 following the 2019 LP “Wow… That’s Crazy,” is finally making his return. The D.C. native has just unveiled a new chapter in his career, announcing a label deal with Def Jam.

Although the ink dried on this agreement several months ago, it was kept discreet until now. Wale chose to mark this momentous occasion by taking to Instagram to reveal that he will be dropping new music this Friday. His message, “My silence has been golden… see you on Friday,” sent a wave of anticipation through his fans.

Former rapper turned podcaster, Joe Budden, shared his enthusiasm for Wale’s resurgence on a recent episode of his widely-followed Joe Budden Podcast.

“I’m excited about this,” Budden exclaimed. “Not because he finally learned to take a step back and go radio silent via social media that’s one of the reasons a lot of you Wale haters out there dislike him. He went crazy a few times.”

“He was able to disconnect, dis-attach, step away and he’s been quiet. I don’t know what he’s been doing, feeling, thinking and now I get a song. I love that for Wale.”
