New Music: Doechii Tells Us Why She’s ‘Crazy’

Two days ago, Top Dawg Entertainment’s first woman in Hip-Hop, Doechii recently released her new single ‘Crazy.’

On Instagram, the Swamp Princess explains that her single is about “un-contained power, creativity and confidence.”

“Then I ball like Spaldin’
Can’t call my bluff when the shit is my calling
Won’t duck bitch, I’m all in
It’s a brand new day, new pace, light joggin’
Straight facts, no jargon
It’s a whole lot of big blue checks, no login
Low stress, no stallin’
See a whole lot of big buguettes when I fall in”

Off rip, the lyrics already execute craziness but the music video is CAMP-crazy. There’s nudity, guns, cars on fire, and more chaos. Doechii is also pictured ashing a cigarette on her bare arm. It’s provocative and it’s definitely gotten the people going — specifically Youtube.

Unfortunately, Doechii’s music video was banned from trending on Youtube not necessarily for nudity but for the violence, which is quite questionable considering the types of violence that a plethora of artists have captured in their music videos (see Childish Gambino’s ‘This is America,’ Cardi’sPress,’ etc).

Doechii posted a note issued by her director touching on the matter.

Swamp Princess 🐊 on Twitter: “Because Crazy is banned from trending on YouTube I just ask that you guys share it and support it as much as possible if it resonates with you 🤎 Directors Note for anyone curious: pic.twitter.com/ngMvsBNvZ0 / Twitter”

In summary, they explain that the video was filled with metaphors that pertain specifically to the type of experience that many women endure as they ascend to power.

One of the most flooring scenes in the music video is when the rapper shoots a woman in the beginning. In the very end, Doechii takes her own life. These events illustrate the tethering experiences between women.

“…when you die, I die, and therefore we must stand together.”

As a result of the problematic Youtube ban, Doechi is ineligible to collect any royalties from the platform. Let’s continue to support Doechii by streaming ‘Crazy’ and her other projects on other streaming platforms!

In the early hours of Saturday, May 3, Drake unleashed “FAMILY MATTERS,” taking aim at Kendrick Lamar. In retaliation, Lamar fired back within the hour with his response, “meet the Grahams.”

The saga continues as Kendrick has unleashed yet another scathing diss track titled “Not Like Us.” Over Mustard‘s production, Lamar continues to confront Drake, exposing allegations of underage relationships, entanglements with Lil Wayne’s girlfriend, and much more.

The cover art for the single shows Drake’s Toronto mansion with markers typically reserved for identifying sex offenders.

“Say Drake I hear you like em young, to any b*tch that talk to em and they in love, make sure you hide your little sister from em,” Kendrick spits.

Kendrick Lamar did not take kindly to Drake‘s latest diss track, “FAMILY MATTERS,” and has fired back with another diss towards the Toronto rapper an hour later on a track titled “meet the grahams.”

On the latest diss track, Kendrick is extremely direct, bringing up Drake’s mother, father, and son. He also reveals that Drake is hiding another child, a baby girl, and doubles down on claims that Drake is dating underage girls.

On Drake’s alleged second child:

“I’d like to say it’s not your fault that he’s hiding another child/Give him grace/That’s the reason I made Mr. Morale.”

Drake’s mother, Sandra:

“Dear Sandra, your son got some habits/I hope you don’t undermine them.”

“Your son’s a sick man with sick thoughts/I think n—-s like him should die/Him and Weinstein should get fucked up in a cell for the rest of they life/ And we’ve gotta raise our daughters knowing there’s predators like him lurkin’/Fuck a rap battle, he should die, so all of these women can live with a purpose.”

Drake’s father, Dennis:

“You raised a horrible fuckin’ person/The nerve of you, Dennis”

It’s been an entertaining two weeks as Drake and Kendrick Lamar have been sparring in a lyrical battle.

Since Kendrick’s diss towards Drake on Metro Boomin and Future‘s We Don’t Trust You track, “Like That,” Drake returned fire with two diss tracks titled, “Push Ups” and “Taylor Made Freestyle,” Kendrick Lamar then returned with two tracks towards Drake titled, “Euphoria” and “6:16 in LA.”

The two rappers aren’t done yet, as Drake has just released his response to Kendrick titled “Family Matters.” On the diss track, things get personal as Drake brings up Kendrick’s wife, Whitney Alford.

“Say you hate the girls I fuck but what you really mean / I been with Black and white and everything in between / You the Black messiah wifing up a mixed queen / And hit vanilla cream to help out with your self-esteem.”

Drake also implies that Kendrick’s kids aren’t his, but are actually Dave Free’s, Kendrick Lamar’s longtime creative partner.

“Why you never hold your son and tell him say cheese / We could have left the kids out of this don’t blame me,” he raps.

“Our sons should go play at the park / Two light-skinned kids, that shit would be cute / Unless you don’t want to be seen with anyone that’s Blacker than you”
