Balenciaga Ends Relationship With Kanye West
Kanye West has been under scrutiny these last few weeks after donning a White Lives Matter shirt during Paris Fashion Week and making antisemitic remarks on social media. More recently, the DONDA rapper appeared on the now removed episode of Drink Champs where he made controversial comments about George Floyd’s death which has resulted in a $250 million lawsuit from Floyd’s family.
As of result of these controversial statements, Balenciaga has decided to end their relationship with Kanye West. “Balenciaga has no longer any relationship nor any plans for future projects related to this artist,” Kering said in a statement to Women’s Wear Daily.
Just a few weeks ago, Ye walked in the Balenciaga’s Summer 2023 show during Paris Fashion Week. He also teamed up with Balenciaga’s artistic director Demna earlier this year to create his Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga line. Demna also served as creative director for his Donda 2 performances.
