DMX returns home after spending a year in federal prison.

Born Earl Simmons, 48-year-old rapper, DMX has been released from federal prison after pleading guilty to tax fraud in Nov. 2017, skipping out on drug treatments after Oxycodone and cocaine was found in his system, and indicted on felony tax invasion charges in March 2018.

“I spoke to him; he’s very happy,” Simmons’ lawyer, Murray Richman, told Vulture. “He’s looking forward to being home. He’s never been hotter than now — people have been seeking him out all over. “

Simmons’ release date was originally scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 27, however, since it falls on a weekend, “inmates will be released on the last preceding weekday if their projected release date falls on a weekend or legal holiday,” per the Bureau of Prisons policy.
