It is with heavy hearts that we report former Bad Boy member Craig Mack has passed away. Confirmed by his producer Alvin Toney, the Long Island, New York rapper passed away from heart failure at a hospital near his Walterboro, South Carolina home on Monday. Craig Mack served as the first artist of Bad Boy records, releasing his album Project Funk da World, back in 1994. The debut album featured his smash single, “Flava in Ya Ear,” which reached platinum status and landed at #9 on Billboard’s Hot 100 charts back in 1994.

“God bless my friend,” said Toney. “He was a good friend of mine. Nobody got to understand his story. I wanted the world to know the talent he had. It was something I wanted people to enjoy, but it was cut short because he was very religious and wanted to go to church. He was prepared for whatever comes, to go home to the Lord. He was prepared to do that. He wasn’t scared. He was ready.”
