Hidden Gems: Maliibu Miitch – ‘Crush On You’ + Vanni – ‘Friday’

Published

on

Hidden Gem – an idiom which means something which is extremely outstanding and not many people may know about.

Later this month, I will be kicking off my ‘Hidden Gems’ playlist. There are so many talented artists in the world who fall on deaf ears all because they have no cosign; and I figured, with all the signed rappers, journalists and entertainers who view my site, why don’t give these artists a platform instead of hiding them on a private Soundcloud playlist? I mean, if you love an artist, you’d want them to succeed, right?

Check out this week’s picks below.

Maliibu Miitch – ‘Crush On You’

Hailing from the South Bronx, Maliibu Mitch channels in her inner Lil Kim with her remake of the Queen Bee’s 1996-single, “Crush On You” which featured Junior Mafia’s Lil Cease. With her undeniable sex appeal and New York attitude, I’d say she’s done the Hardcore single some justice.

Vanni – ‘Friday’

A regular feature on the site, Vanni returns with a new record about a day everyone loves, “Friday.” Though some view Friday as the end of their work week and a time to party, all Vanni is looking forward to is his paycheck.

Over the AndreOnTheBeat-produced cut, the “Sexy Love” curator spits everything we’re thinking – from the annoying bank fees to the dreams of never having to worry about a dollar ever again. Stream below.

Skilla Baby Drops The Coldest (Deluxe) miixtapechiick

Earlier this year, Skilla Baby released his 16-track project, “The Coldest,” via Geffen, featuring collaborations with Polo G, Flo Milli, Moneybagg Yo, G Herbo, DaBaby, Rob49, Mozzy, NoCap, Jeremih, and Tay B.

The Detroit native has now returned with the official deluxe version, which includes additional tracks such as “Soulja Slimm” featuring Rob49, “Bobby Trap on The River,” and “Body Bangin’,” among others. The deluxe edition also features contributions from Bossman DLow, Baby Money, and Southside.

“I took my time to put this project together… Sometimes, I feel like people try to place me in a box. The pressure of being a new artist, being successful, staying disciplined, and still clocking into the studio is very strenuous but fun at the same time,” Skilla shared during the album’s initial press release. “As an artist, I’m known as the ‘girl’s guy,’ but I’ll never forget I come from the streets. As a real person, I feel so many emotions: mad, sad, happy, anxious, etc. I say that to say sorry for the wait, but I wanted to put everything I feel into one project. Grab your coats…,” he continued.

The deluxe version of “The Coldest” follows Skilla Baby’s joint tour with Rob49, “Vultures Eat The Most Tour.”

Tory Lanez Begins 'Prison Tapes' Series miixtapechiick

Despite serving a ten-year sentence for the shooting incident involving Megan Thee Stallion, Tory Lanez is bringing fans new music from behind prison walls with his latest series, “Prison Tapes,” announced on Wednesday, July 24.

“After about 20-something to 30-something fuck-ups and mistakes, me and my engineer have finally figure out how to record music over the jail phone and still keep the quality as professional as I had it on the street,” he said in a recorded call posted on Instagram. “It’s over. I done cracked the fucking code, man. This means that not even these prison walls can stop me from dropping new music. It’s crazy!”

The Toronto native kicks off the series with the tracks “Cell 245” and “Wish I Never Met You.”
