Meek Mill’s Lawyer Says Judge Had A Personal Vendetta; Jay-Z Comments On Sentencing
Published
7 years agoon
It’s been 24 hours since rapper Meek Mill has been sentencing to 2-4 years in prison and many of the Philadelphia rapper’s comrades did not agree with the verdict. Industry entertainers including Snoop Dogg, Nipsey Hustle, Don Q, and more took to social media their thoughts on the 30-year-old’s sentencing. Jay Z, who signed Meek Mill to a management deal via Roc Nation, also took to Facebook his thoughts, calling the sentencing – ‘unjust.’
“The sentence handed down by the Judge – against the recommendation of the Assistant District Attorney and Probation Officer – is unjust and heavy-handed,” said the mogul/rapper. “We will always stand by and support Meek Mill, both as he attempts to right this wrongful sentence and then in returning to his musical career.”
Meek Mill’s lawyer, Joe Tacopina, has been speaking with various outlets including Billboard, to talk about how inappropriate Common Pleas Judge Genece Brinkley has been, making this situation a personal vendetta against Meek Mill.
“But when you look at all the other facts, like a judge crossing the line of professionalism and traditional conduct, [who] will make the request that Meek Mill re-record a famous Philadelphia pop band, Boyz II Men’s song “On Bended Knee,” where he concludes with a tribute to her and mentions her by name in the song. And he, of course, was laughing and thought it was a joke, she said, “I’m serious.” He refused to do that,” says Tacopina.
“So, that, right there, was a totally an inappropriate request. When she requests he leaves his current management Roc Nation — which is one of the most important management companies in the world — and goes back to a local Philadelphia guy who has a spotted past because she had a personal relationship with him as manager, again, she’s doing something that a judge would never be doing, having a personal interest.”

May 17, 2024On Friday, May 17, CNN obtained footage showing Sean ‘Diddy‘ Combs physically assaulting his former girlfriend and Bad Boy artist, Cassie, at the now-closed InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles.
The surveillance footage, dating back to 2016, shows Diddy chasing Ventura, who was seen standing at a set of elevators, and proceed to grab and shove her to the ground. He then kicks her, and takes what appears to be her purse and suitcase from the floor. Diddy then drags her by her sweater towards a room. Ventura is later seen slowly getting up and collecting items from the floor.

Diddy returns moments later, sits on a chair, grabs an object off a table, and throws it at Ventura. He is then seen walking away, but turns back toward Ventura when an elevator door opens and someone exits.
Ventura’s attorney, Douglas H. Wigdor, told CNN: “The gut-wrenching video has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behavior of Mr. Combs. Words cannot express the courage and fortitude that Ms. Ventura has shown in coming forward to bring this to light.”
In November, Cassie, born Cassandra Ventura, initiated legal proceedings against Diddy, born Sean Combs, alleging years of control, rape, and prolonged physical abuse spanning over a decade. The two parties reached a settlement 24 hours later.

Akademiks, born Livingston Allen, has been sued for sexual assault, rape, and defamation.
The civil suit, filed by his ex-girlfriend Ziya Abashe in Essex County, NJ, on Monday, accuses Akademiks of rape and defamation. According to her attorney Tyrone Blackburn, the suit states that in July 2022, Akademiks invited Abashe to his house, where two of his male friends allegedly drugged her, got her drunk, and raped her.
The lawsuit further alleges that Abashe woke up naked in what she believed to be Mr. Allen’s bedroom around 4 a.m., where she was savagely attacked by Mr. Allen, who allegedly pulled her hair, pried open her legs, and brutally raped her.
Abashe claims to have seen video footage of the incident from surveillance cameras at the property. She also stated that Akademiks asked her to get tested afterward, saying he would do the same. The survivor reported taking a rape kit and making an audio recording of Akademiks discussing the act, as directed by the police.
“I look crazy right now but I’m not going to stand here and let this man continue to lie about me. That’s not what happened Akademiks, you know that’s not what happened,” she said during an Instagram Live in 2023.
Rolling Stone, who first reported the lawsuit, reached out to Akademiks who has not responded for comment.
