Since the replacement of MTV Jams by BET, watching music videos on television hasn’t been quite the same; considering the fact that BET Jams shows more mainstream than throwbacks. MTV must have felt the same because they are now launching their own ‘classics’ channel.

Starting August 1st, MTV will be launching a new network, “MTV Classics.” Replacing VH1 Classics, the channel will be airing formerly syndicated MTV shows such as Daria, MTV Cribs, Beavis and Butt-Head, TRL, Pimp My Ride and much more. The channel will also be airing music videos from 3 AM to 1 PM.

MTV Classic on Twitter: “We heard you like music videos, so we’re airing 10 hours of them every day from 3am-1pm starting Monday. WE GOT U pic.twitter.com/J3uiZppSvD / Twitter”

The launch of MTV Classics also serves as the anniversary of their first hour of programming, that launched 35 years ago on August 1, 1981.
