Nicki Minaj & Megan Thee Stallion Diss One Another Following “Hiss” Release

Earlier tonight, Megan Thee Stallion unveiled her latest single, “Hiss,” as a follow-up to her November release, “Cobra.”

Building anticipation, Megan teased the release with a bold public service announcement: “I just want to kick this off by saying, ‘F*** y’all,'” she declares in the teaser clip. “I ain’t gotta clear my name on a damn thing. Every time my name comes up, one of y’all gets 24 hours of attention. I’m about to speak my truth and put this to rest. Let’s go!”

As it turns out, the fiery PSA was an introduction to the song itself, where Megan Thee Stallion subtly aimed some lyrical jabs at Nicki Minaj: “These haters ain’t mad at Megan, they mad at Megan’s Law/I don’t really know what the issue is, but I guarantee y’all don’t want me to start.”

The reference to “Megan’s Law” seems directed at Nicki’s husband, Kenneth Petty, invoking the federal law that mandates authorities to disclose information about registered sex offenders.

In 1995, Petty was convicted of attempting to rape Jennifer Hough when she was 16 with a knife. Petty took a plea deal and served four-and-a-half years in prison and was to register as a sex offender.

Petty ran into trouble last March when it was discovered that he did not register as a sex offender in the state of California, since his move in 2019.

The tension between Nicki Minaj and Megan Thee Stallion began bubbling in September 2022 when Nicki accused Megan of encouraging her to drink alcohol while pregnant and to undergo an abortion during a heated rant on her Queen Radio show via Amp.

In the episode titled “Tea Party,” Nicki Minaj exposed her adversaries after various artists posted cryptic tweets following her “Super Freaky Girl (Queen Mix).” While not naming names, Minaj shared a story about a rapper suggesting she get an abortion.

“Imagine declining a drink because you might be pregnant while actively trying to start a family,” Nicki recounted on Queen Radio. “Now, imagine that person saying, ‘Oh girl, you can go to the clinic.’ Imagine sharing pregnancy photos, and that person doesn’t even acknowledge it or offer congratulations.”

Nicki continued by revealing that the same individual later attempted to send her flowers after accepting the MTV Video Vanguard Award at the VMAs, trying to capitalize on the moment.

“But then, when you post that Beyoncé sent you flowers congratulating you, the person then tries to attempt to send you flowers thinking that, ‘Oh, I can use this opportunity as I use everyone else. She’ll post that I sent her flowers.’ I didn’t even let them shits in my motherfu**in’ house, clown.”

Nicki Minaj seemingly decided to respond to Megan Thee Stallion’s “Hiss” just 15 minutes after its release by going on Instagram Live in previewing a new track. “Bad b*tch she like 6 foot, I call her big foot. The b*tch fell off, I said get up on your good foot.”

She’s also liked a series of tweets on X (formerly known as Twitter).

In December 2023, Nicki Minaj allegedly took shots at Megan on the Pink Friday 2 single “FTCU”: “Stay in your Tory lane, bitch, I’m not Iggy,” she rapped on the song.
