Rapper Pooh Shiesty was sentenced to 63 months (five years and three months) in prison on Wednesday, Apr. 20, for his gun conspiracy conviction.

Born Lontrell Donnell Williams, Jr., the 22-year-old was indicted last June after being connected to a shooting that took place outside the Landon Hotel in Bay Harbor Islands, Florida, on Oct. 9, 2020. The shooting was a result of a confrontation that left a man shot in his rear end.

Williams pled guilty to one of the four counts of firearms conspiracy, back in January. According to Rolling Stone, prosecutors alleged that the Back In Blood rapper was trying to purchase codeine, marijuana, and a pair of sneakers. Williams reportedly accepted the bag of marijuana and took a look at the pair of sneakers before allegedly shooting the victim in the buttocks.

When Williams fled the scene, a Louis Vuitton bag that contained $40,912 in cash fell out of the driver’s seat of the McLaren that Williams reportedly was driving in. Investigators were able to link the cash to Williams after matching the serial numbers on the cash to a $100 bill that Williams posted on Instagram days before the robbery.

Williams took a plea deal and pleaded guilty to a single charge of conspiracy to possess a firearm in furtherance of violent and drug-trafficking crimes. When he appeared in Miami Federal court, U.S. District Judge Kevin Michael Moore sentenced Williams to 63 months in prison. The Tennessee native originally faced 20 years.

“Listen, nobody’s happy to go to prison, but he was happy the judge listened to our argument, and the judge received the argument well. He was satisfied with the outcome,” said his lawyer, Bradford Cohen. “We’re happy with the decision of the court.”

Williams will get credit for time served and could be out in three years and a half years.
