Rick Ross Addresses Comments Regarding Signing A Female Rapper
Published
7 years agoon
Earlier this week, Rick Ross made some unsettling comments about signing a female rapper during his appearance on The Breakfast Club. When asked by Angela Yee on why he hasn’t added a female rapper to the MMG roster, Rick Ross responded saying:
“You know, I never did it because I always thought, like, I would end up f—ing a female rapper and f—ing the business up. I’m so focused on my business. I just, I gotta be honest with you. You know, she looking good. I’m spending so much money on her photo shoots. I gotta f— a couple times.”
Since the release of the interview, social media has been in a complete uproar over the misogynic views. However, Ross has since taken a statement to his Facebook account apologizing for his comments.
“I want to address an insensitive comment I made on a very sensitive issue, especially in a minority dominated industry like hip hop. My entire empire’s backbone is led by 2 of the strongest people I know and they happen to be women, my mother and sister. The operations wouldn’t run without them and I have the highest regard and respect for women in this industry. I have a daughter myself, my most cherished gift in the world.
My comment is not reflection of my beliefs on the issue. A mistake I regret. I hope to use my mistake, my platform and the community to create positive discussion to implement change on a very important issue. respect for the ones who stand up to say hey that isn’t right. Now it’s time to accept responsibility and all do better.
I look forward to continue working with & supporting female artists. my discovery process was documented by vh1 on #signed which premiered last night. Many of the most talented artists you’ll see in the running to be the next #MMG superstars are female artists. I look forward to clarifying my comments through my support.
Thank you to everyone who’s going through the journey with me, we coming out everyday stronger.
Boss”

Akademiks, born Livingston Allen, has been sued for sexual assault, rape, and defamation.
The civil suit, filed by his ex-girlfriend Ziya Abashe in Essex County, NJ, on Monday, accuses Akademiks of rape and defamation. According to her attorney Tyrone Blackburn, the suit states that in July 2022, Akademiks invited Abashe to his house, where two of his male friends allegedly drugged her, got her drunk, and raped her.
The lawsuit further alleges that Abashe woke up naked in what she believed to be Mr. Allen’s bedroom around 4 a.m., where she was savagely attacked by Mr. Allen, who allegedly pulled her hair, pried open her legs, and brutally raped her.
Abashe claims to have seen video footage of the incident from surveillance cameras at the property. She also stated that Akademiks asked her to get tested afterward, saying he would do the same. The survivor reported taking a rape kit and making an audio recording of Akademiks discussing the act, as directed by the police.
“I look crazy right now but I’m not going to stand here and let this man continue to lie about me. That’s not what happened Akademiks, you know that’s not what happened,” she said during an Instagram Live in 2023.
Rolling Stone, who first reported the lawsuit, reached out to Akademiks who has not responded for comment.
