Did The Weeknd Take Shots at Drake on New Future & Metro Boomin Song: “Thank God I Never Signed My Life Away”?
Earlier this month, news began to circulate about potential tension brewing between The Weeknd and Drake following The Weeknd’s feature on Future & Metro Boomin‘s “We Don’t Trust You” track, “Young Metro.” This week, the plot thickens with The Weeknd’s appearance on the sequel album, “We Still Don’t Trust You.”
In his contribution to the track “All To Myself” The Weeknd subtly hints at his decision not to ink a deal with Warner Bros. and OVO Sound, a choice he made clear to Drake back in 2016.
“They could never diss my brothers, baby/When they got leaks in they operation/I thank God that I never signed my life away,” he sings.
The Weeknd previously disclosed to Complex, “I told him from day one what my decision was going to be. I wasn’t going that route. I was going to go my own route. And he supported me.”
Regarding the “shooters making TikToks” lyric, fans speculate it is in reference to OVO Sound artist Baka‘s TikTok presence which can be viewed here.
