Drake Takes Aim at Kanye West, 6ix9ine, Joe Budden, and Pusha T on ‘Scary Hours 3’
Earlier today, Drake released the second disc of his previously released album, ‘For All The Dogs,’ now rebranded as Scary Hours 3. The latest installment features six new tracks, including a notable verse from J. Cole on ‘Evil Ways.’ Remarkably, last month’s release, “For All The Dogs,” achieved impressive sales of 410,500 copies in its debut week.
Scary Hours 3 showcases Drake delving into diss territory, taking aim at several individuals, including Kanye West, 6ix9ine, Joe Budden, and Pusha T.
On “Red Button,” Drake confronts Kanye West for being a fake friend and reneging on their truce. “Every time you need me for a boost, I never hesitated. Every time that Yeezy called a truce, he had my head inflated. Thinking we gonna finally peace it up and get to levitating. Realize that everything premeditated,” he raps.
Drake then addresses Kanye West again on “Stories About My Brother.”
“I can’t wait for the day that you choose to retire your stuff. Taking off the sneakers ’cause you’re tired of tying ’em up. That one day you wake up and tell ’em, ‘Enough is enough.’ That’s how you gonna find out you’re not Kobe Bryant to us [laughs]. Man, you’re not Kobe Bryant to us… at all,” he says.
Kanye previously likened himself to Kobe Bryant on ScHoolboy Q‘s “THat Part” and even created “I Feel Like Kobe” shirts in 2016 to coincide with Bryant’s NBA retirement. The two seemingly resolved their differences in 2019 during the Free Larry Hoover concert, with Drake later revealing that the truce was a favor to J. Prince.
Drake also takes shots at Joe Budden on “Stories About My Brother”: “Imagine us getting our validation from an ex-musician searching for recognition. Same story every time, they heckle in repetition. I’m on top of the mountain, these n-ggas still down at base camp, planning their expedition.”
He concludes the verse by dissing 6ix9ine: “Y’all the type to catch a charge, head to the deposition, and act like the rapper named after the sex position.”
Drake and Joe Budden have had an ongoing feud since 2016, with exchanges on multiple tracks. The beef appeared to have subsided until Budden critiqued For All The Dogs on The Joe Budden Podcast.
Drake responded in the comment section of the clip shared on Instagram. “You have failed at music,” he wrote. “You left it behind to do what you are doing in this clip cause this is what actually pays your bills. For any artist watching this just remember you are watching a failure give their opinion on his idea of a recipe for success…a quitter give their opinion on how to achieve longevity.”
Lastly, Drake targets Pusha T on The Alchemist-produced track, “Wick Man”: “Man, I remember n-ggas joking ’bout some tick, tick/ And now that rapper broke as fuck, that boy a statistic.”
In 2016, Pusha T mocked Noah “40” Shebib’s multiple sclerosis disease on “The Story of Adidon“: “OVO 40, hunched over like he 80—tick, tick, tick/ How much time he got? That man is sick, sick, sick.”
