Bobby Shmurda Explains Taking Plea Deal; Took Longer Sentence to Shorten Rowdy Rebel’s

When it comes to Bobby Shmurda and Rowdy Rebel, we know that blood couldn’t make them any closer. They came up together, went to jail together, and are now serving the same bid, together.

News broke earlier this week that Bobby Shmurda and GS9 affiliates Chad “Rowdy Rebel” Marshall and Nicholas McCoy accepted a global plea deal from the prosecution following their court hearing. Shmurda pleaded guilty to 4th-degree conspiracy, which carries a sentence of 1-3 years, and 2nd-degree criminal weapons possession, which carries a sentence of 7 years. Allowed to serve these sentences consecutively, the Brooklyn rapper will be serving a total of seven years in prison altogether.

In his first interview since the plea deal hearing, Bobby Shmurda revealed to Complex his chances of beating the case if they decided to go on with the trial that was scheduled for next week and why he took the plea deal in the first place.

If we made bail I would’ve beat the case. We look guilty in these orange jumpsuits. If you put Al Sharpton in a orange jumpsuit and accuse him of having a gun, he’s going to be found guilty. They just look at our skin color, and look at where we’re from

Why he took the plea deal:

I did it for Rowdy. They offered me five and offered Rowdy 12. They said the only way they’ll give him seven is if I took seven too. So, you know, I had to take one for the dawgs.

Unfortunately, Bobby Shmurda cannot appeal his plea deal, but has been granted credit for the two years he has already served. Therefore, Shmurda has five years left remaining on his sentence.
