Drake Releases Long-Awaited Album ‘Certified Lover Boy’
Seven months ago, Drake announced the delayment of Certified Lover Boy, due to wanting to take his time to recover from knee surgery stating “I’m just grateful to be back on my feet. I went through a little bit of a tough stretch with an injury and I’m back in tip-top form.”
“CLB is currently being cheffed in every way possible…I’m back in the studio with 40 tough. I’m just really excited about the music that we’re making and I feel like I’ve locked into a zone where I’m really trying to execute on a project that’s fulfilling for my soul.”
However, he didn’t break down the bad news without a treat. A month later, OVO Sound’s head honcho released Scary Hours 2 . Though it didn’t feature the Lil Durk-assisted track, “Laugh Now, Cry Later,” the project boasted features from Lil Baby (“Wants and Needs”) and Rick Ross (“Lemon Pepper Freestyle”). Drake also provided visual treatment to the opening track, “What’s Next.”
Six months later, Drake utilized ESPN’s Sportscenter to announce the release date of Certified Lover Boy via a cryptic message.
Since then, Drake used Billboard all over the country to reveal the featured artists of the project via their respective hometowns:
Shortly after, Kanye West allegedly put up Billboards in Toronto to promote his latest album, DONDA, to taunt the Certified Lover Boy as the beef between the two reignited last month following Drake’s verse on Trippie Redd‘s “Betrayal.”
Nonetheless, Certified Lover Boy has officially released and features 21 tracks with contributions from JAY-Z, Lil Wayne, Young Thug, Lil Baby, Ty Dolla $ign, Giveon and many more.
