Back in November, Jhené Aiko announced she would be releasing a new record titled ‘Sun/Son,’ created in celebration of her son Noah Hasani‘s first birthday, representing not only her first child with rapper Big Sean but also a poignant addition to her growing family. Aiko marked her return to the music scene last March with the soulful release, “calm & patient.”

As her manager, Taz, passionately declared at the time, “A new @jheneaiko era is upon us. Taking it back to simpler times when we just put music out for the love of it. Apologies @defjam and tea, this one is for the Soulmates.”

Leading up to this much-anticipated release, Aiko had kept silent since the release of her 2021 record, “Wrap Up.” Notably, in 2020, she treated fans to her third studio album, CHILOMBO.

On her latest track, ‘Sun/Son,’ Aiko’s emotive voice resonates, singing, “Waited awhile, don’t know where you were (Where you were) / I prayed out loud, and then there you were / Made for the veil, you’re the way, the one (Way, the one) / No doubt about it, you charge me up, you charge me up (Sun son, sun son).”
