Nicki Minaj Declines Kanye West’s Request to Clear ‘New Body’ Verse
Nicki Minaj has declined Kanye West’s request to clear her verse on the song ‘New Body.’
Originally, Nicki Minaj collaborated with Kanye West on ‘New Body,’ alongside Ty Dolla $ign for Kanye’s unreleased Yandhi album. The track was later intended for Jesus is King, featuring a new verse from Nicki to complement Kanye’s newfound faith. Unfortunately, the release never materialized and was instead leaked in 2019.
In the past year, Nicki revealed that she re-wrote her verse on the potential hit numerous times to fit with Jesus is King, but expressed disappointment that the song never saw the light of day, firmly believing it to be a potential hit..
During an interview with Rhode Island’s Hot 106 radio station, Nicki shared her perspective, saying, “So what I thought was interesting was that Kanye made me write my ‘New Body’ verse four times over in order to fit into where he was creatively and spiritually in his life, right, only then do I go on the internet a few months later to see him on Drink Champs, rolling a blunt and smoking or whatever he was doing.”
Continuing her narrative, she expressed, “I missed it by a year, I guess. Had ‘New Body’ been out when he was not in his gospel era, then it would’ve seen the light of day. But, it didn’t, so it wasn’t meant to be. Everybody knows that was the hit that got away.”
Fast-forward to the present, Kanye shared a screenshot on social media, indicating that he had texted Nicki Minaj, requesting her approval to use the record for his upcoming collaborative album with Ty Dolla $ign, titled Vultures. However, Nicki, during an Instagram Live, firmly stated that she would not be granting clearance, stating that the “train has left the station.”
“Now regarding Kanye, chile, that train has left the station,” she said. “Okay, no disrespect in anyway. I just put out a brand-new album. Why would I put out a song that’s been out for three years? C’mon guys.”

Live Stream: Rich Homie Quan Celebration of Life Funeral Service
On September 5, Dequantes Devontay Lamar, known to the world as Rich Homie Quan, tragically passed away at the age of 34.
Quan’s father and longtime manager, Corey Lamar, initially planned a small, private service for close family, stating it was important to “begin the healing process.” However, he later reconsidered, saying, “Without the fans, there would be no Quan.”
In honor of Rich Homie Quan’s life and legacy, Fox 5 Atlanta will be live streaming the funeral service at World Changers Church International in College Park.
Rich Homie Quan rose to prominence in 2013 with his breakout single “Type of Way,” which reached number 50 on the US Billboard Hot 100. His mixtape Still Goin’ In (Reloaded) was later named one of the top 10 mixtapes of the year by Rolling Stone. The following year, Quan teamed up with Problem for the hit single “Walk Thru” and joined forces with Birdman’s Rich Gang. Alongside Young Thug, he became part of the group’s success, with their single “Lifestyle,” produced by London On Da Track, earning platinum certification.
Quan later returned to his solo career, releasing his debut album Rich as in Spirit in 2018.
