Nipsey Hussle’s Family Launches Neighborhood Nip Foundation

Nipsey Hussle is being honored by his family through the launch of the Neighborhood Nip Foundation, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Aside from being a rapper, Hussle’s passion was uplifting and creating an impact in his community. At a young age, the “Victory Lap” activist would travel from Crenshaw to Watts every day via bike and bus to make it to the Watts Towers for a program that gave the youth access to a recording studio for free.

“The foundation will be aligned with everything Nip believed in and what helped him,” Hussle’s brother, Sam Asghedom, told the LA Times.

Though it has not been stated what the Neighborhood Nip Foundation will consist of, one of the main goals of the organization will to break youth into the music industry.

Atlantic Records, the recording label Nip was signed to prior to his death, made a six-figure donation to the non-profit organization.

“Nipsey will be forever missed, but his courageous, generous spirit lives on in his incredible music and the impact he made on the community,” said Atlantic Records chairman and CEO Craig Kallman and chairman and COO Julie Greenwald. “Nip’s love for the generation coming up behind him is a big part of what’s inspiring this foundation, and we’re proud to celebrate his life by supporting his legacy.”

Along with Atlantic Records, Puma will also be making a contribution; having 100% of sales from their forthcoming Puma x TMC capsule collection go towards the foundation. The collection is scheduled to debut Sept. 5.

“Nipsey always put his community first, and we know he wouldn’t want it any other way,” Puma said in a statement.
