Opening Remarks of the Tory Lanez Assault Trial
Published
1 year agoon
Monday, Dec. 12, served as the first day of opening remarks in the Tory Lanez shooting trial in which he is being accused of shooting rapper Megan Thee Stallion.
The incident occurred last year on July 12th after the two artists left a pool party at Kylie Jenner’s house in Hollywood Hills. Tory Lanez is accused of shooting Megan in the foot while riding in an SUV and allegedly told her to “dance b*tch,” according to testimony by Los Angeles Police Det. Ryan Stogner.
During opening remarks in the Los Angeles court room, prosecutors claim an argument took place in the SUV where Megan Thee Stallion was reportedly criticizing Lanez’ music. Meg then allegedly got out of the car and Tory fired five gunshots, striking Megan in both feet, while yelling “dance bitch.”
Prosecutors revealed that both Tory Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion’s former best friend, Kelsey Nicole, both tested positive for gun shot residue. Prosecutors also revealed that Lanez assaulted Nicole after shooting Megan and that’s how the GSR ended on her.
Prosecutors entered into evidence a voicemail Lanez left for Nicole where he apologized profusely as well as the text messages Lanez sent to Megan following the shooting. “I’m sorry from the bottom of my heart … shit should have never happened and I can’t change what I did,” Lanez texted Megan, according to prosecutors. “Cuz I genuinely just got too drunk.”
During the opening statement for the defense, attorneys stated that Tory never admitted to shooting a gun but was apologizing for “having a sexual relationship” with both Megan and Nicole, which reportedly caused the fight.

The defense claims that Megan was motivated by jealously to lie and that it was Nicole who pulled the trigger; Lanez was only trying to take the gun away from her and that how the gunshot residue got on him.
Back in 2020, Megan Thee Stallion outed Tory as the one who shot her.
“You shot me, and you got your publicist and your people going to these blogs, lying and shit,” Megan said on Instagram Live. “Stop lying. Why lie? I don’t understand. I tried to keep the situation off the internet, but you’re dragging it.”

May 17, 2024On Friday, May 17, CNN obtained footage showing Sean ‘Diddy‘ Combs physically assaulting his former girlfriend and Bad Boy artist, Cassie, at the now-closed InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles.
The surveillance footage, dating back to 2016, shows Diddy chasing Ventura, who was seen standing at a set of elevators, and proceed to grab and shove her to the ground. He then kicks her, and takes what appears to be her purse and suitcase from the floor. Diddy then drags her by her sweater towards a room. Ventura is later seen slowly getting up and collecting items from the floor.

Diddy returns moments later, sits on a chair, grabs an object off a table, and throws it at Ventura. He is then seen walking away, but turns back toward Ventura when an elevator door opens and someone exits.
Ventura’s attorney, Douglas H. Wigdor, told CNN: “The gut-wrenching video has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behavior of Mr. Combs. Words cannot express the courage and fortitude that Ms. Ventura has shown in coming forward to bring this to light.”
In November, Cassie, born Cassandra Ventura, initiated legal proceedings against Diddy, born Sean Combs, alleging years of control, rape, and prolonged physical abuse spanning over a decade. The two parties reached a settlement 24 hours later.

Akademiks, born Livingston Allen, has been sued for sexual assault, rape, and defamation.
The civil suit, filed by his ex-girlfriend Ziya Abashe in Essex County, NJ, on Monday, accuses Akademiks of rape and defamation. According to her attorney Tyrone Blackburn, the suit states that in July 2022, Akademiks invited Abashe to his house, where two of his male friends allegedly drugged her, got her drunk, and raped her.
The lawsuit further alleges that Abashe woke up naked in what she believed to be Mr. Allen’s bedroom around 4 a.m., where she was savagely attacked by Mr. Allen, who allegedly pulled her hair, pried open her legs, and brutally raped her.
Abashe claims to have seen video footage of the incident from surveillance cameras at the property. She also stated that Akademiks asked her to get tested afterward, saying he would do the same. The survivor reported taking a rape kit and making an audio recording of Akademiks discussing the act, as directed by the police.
“I look crazy right now but I’m not going to stand here and let this man continue to lie about me. That’s not what happened Akademiks, you know that’s not what happened,” she said during an Instagram Live in 2023.
Rolling Stone, who first reported the lawsuit, reached out to Akademiks who has not responded for comment.
