Rihanna & DIOR Collaborate On Summer Eyewear

As we all know, Rihanna is undeniably a fashion icon and can slay literally EVERYTHING. As she continues to serve as Puma’s Brand Ambassador and Creative Director, the Bajan princess adds a new title to her resume.

Now serving as one of the first Dior ambassadors to collaborate on design project, the ANTI songstress kicks off her brand new line of sunglasses with the world’s top fashion house. The line simply titled, Rihanna, features only one style of reflective, cutting-edge frames, coming in six colors.

I’ve always been obsessed with his eyewear, and when I got to Dior and saw all the materials I could play with, it all just came together. – Rihanna stated in an interview with Dior Mag.

The first five colors: silver, pink, blue, green and red will cost shoppers about $840, while the 24k gold–plated version, costs $1,950.

Rihanna described the line of sunglasses as futuristic, yet sporty and was inspired by the Star Trek character, La Forge. It’s almost perfect timing of the sunglasses’ release considering the fact that the 28 year old is featured on the cinematic film Star Trek Beyond soundtrack.

How Rihanna Described The Creative Process:

The process was pretty seamless. I spent a day at Dior with their eyewear design team. Started by looking through all the archives to see what they’ve done in the past, then got acquainted with all the new materials! I literally sat there drew, and drew until I was happy with the design, and the team illustrated it for me right then and there. We picked materials and colors that same day, and after that it was a matter of weeks before I saw the first prototype.

“People work on their albums for a year; albums are just different. So City Cinderella is not my first album, being that I made this project so damn fast,” the Miami rapper told PAPER. “I had to create this project throughout the tour and moving around, so I didn’t have time to really nurture and doctor it. This is just something that I’m putting out with my pure instincts.”
