Tekashi 6ix9ine Sentencing

Rapper Tekashi69 (6ix9ine) was sentenced to two years in prison and five years of supervised release on Wednesday, Dec. 18.

Born Daniel Hernandez, the Brooklyn native was given credit 13 months for time served. Hernandez is expected to be released from prison mid-2020. When released, he will serve 300 hours of community service and pay a $35,000 fine.

“You are in custody for 13 months. I agree you deserve a great deal of credit for cooperation,” said Judge Paul Engelmayer during Hernandez’ sentencing, according to Inner City Press’ reporting from the courtroom. “However, I cannot agree with your counsel that time served it appropriate. In my judgment, your conduct is too violent and selfish to make 13 months reasonable. You will not be going free today.”

Last week, 6ix9ine wrote a letter to Judge Engelmayer requesting leniency on his sentencing after one of nine charges were dropped by the federal government, resulting in the 47-year sentence being reduced to 37. The government also sent a letter to the judge to reduce Hernandez’s sentence below the minimum.

“I now know that I am remorseful for what happened because I was blessed with the gift of an opportunity that most people dream of but I squandered it by getting involved with the wrong people and misrepresenting myself when I should have been true to myself and my fans,” said Tekashi in a letter obtained by TMZ.

Read his closing testimony below:

If in January 2018 you’d tell me I’d be part of a federal indictment, I’d call you crazy… Since the age of 14, when I lost my father. At 15, 16, 17 I’d see my mom wake up early / Twitter”

Wednesday’s sentencing comes after 6ix9ine’s arrest last November on federal drug racketeering charges. Though he made the decision to flip the following day, Hernandez was faced with a minimum of 47 years in prison after pleading guilty to nine counts in January. His cooperation with the federal government resulted in the conviction of his former Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods gang affiliates, Anthony “Harv” Ellison and Aljermiah “Nuke” Mack.

6ix9ine reportedly turned down witness protection in order to continue performing. The rapper allegedly signed a deal with former label, 10K Projects, for $10 million for two albums.

On Friday, May 17, CNN obtained footage showing Sean ‘Diddy‘ Combs physically assaulting his former girlfriend and Bad Boy artist, Cassie, at the now-closed InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles.

The surveillance footage, dating back to 2016, shows Diddy chasing Ventura, who was seen standing at a set of elevators, and proceed to grab and shove her to the ground. He then kicks her, and takes what appears to be her purse and suitcase from the floor. Diddy then drags her by her sweater towards a room. Ventura is later seen slowly getting up and collecting items from the floor.

Diddy returns moments later, sits on a chair, grabs an object off a table, and throws it at Ventura. He is then seen walking away, but turns back toward Ventura when an elevator door opens and someone exits.

Ventura’s attorney, Douglas H. Wigdor, told CNN: “The gut-wrenching video has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behavior of Mr. Combs. Words cannot express the courage and fortitude that Ms. Ventura has shown in coming forward to bring this to light.”

In November, Cassie, born Cassandra Ventura, initiated legal proceedings against Diddy, born Sean Combs, alleging years of control, rape, and prolonged physical abuse spanning over a decade. The two parties reached a settlement 24 hours later.

Akademiks Sued for Rape, Sexual Assault and Defamation miixtapechiick

Akademiks, born Livingston Allen, has been sued for sexual assault, rape, and defamation.

The civil suit, filed by his ex-girlfriend Ziya Abashe in Essex County, NJ, on Monday, accuses Akademiks of rape and defamation. According to her attorney Tyrone Blackburn, the suit states that in July 2022, Akademiks invited Abashe to his house, where two of his male friends allegedly drugged her, got her drunk, and raped her.

The lawsuit further alleges that Abashe woke up naked in what she believed to be Mr. Allen’s bedroom around 4 a.m., where she was savagely attacked by Mr. Allen, who allegedly pulled her hair, pried open her legs, and brutally raped her.

Abashe claims to have seen video footage of the incident from surveillance cameras at the property. She also stated that Akademiks asked her to get tested afterward, saying he would do the same. The survivor reported taking a rape kit and making an audio recording of Akademiks discussing the act, as directed by the police.

“I look crazy right now but I’m not going to stand here and let this man continue to lie about me. That’s not what happened Akademiks, you know that’s not what happened,” she said during an Instagram Live in 2023.

Rolling Stone, who first reported the lawsuit, reached out to Akademiks who has not responded for comment.
