Tory Lanez’s Request To Disqualify Judge Rejected
The prosecution is requesting that the “Sorry 4 What” artist serves 13 years in prison.

Tory Lanez‘s request to disqualify Judge David Herriford ahead of his sentencing for the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion has been denied by the appellate court on Thursday, June 8.
In a motion filed earlier this month, Lanez’s attorneys, Matthew Barhoma and Jose Baez, requested the disqualification of Judge David Herriford, alleging that the Los Angeles County Superior Court judge displayed bias towards the prosecution.
“Conversely, the judge gave the People a full and fair opportunity to present argument uninterrupted, even when the case cited by the People did not stand for the proposition that they advanced,” they wrote in their petition. “Together, these facts reveal such a high degree of favoritism or antagonism as to make fair judgment impossible. Given these facts, a reasonable person would fairly entertain doubts concerning the judge’s impartiality. As a result, disqualification is required.”
The appellate court did not agree with Lanez’s defense attorneys citing, “The petition for writ of mandate and request for stay are denied for failure to demonstrate entitlement to extraordinary relief.”

Tory Lanez has exhausted all legal options in getting his conviction overturned and is scheduled to be sentenced on June 13.
The jury found Tory Lanez, born Daystar Peterson, guilty on one felony count of assault with a semiautomatic firearm – personal use of a firearm – one felony count of discharging a firearm with gross negligence, and one felony count of carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle on December 22, 2023. The prosecution is requesting that the “Sorry 4 What” artist serve 13 years in prison.
“Words have power and the pen is oftentimes mightier than the sword. In this case, Daystar Peterson used both,” according to a memorandum obtained by Meghann Cuniff. “Not content to have hurt the victim by use of his sword (gun), he also used his pen. His online posts for nearly three years have re-traumatized the victim.”

May 17, 2024On Friday, May 17, CNN obtained footage showing Sean ‘Diddy‘ Combs physically assaulting his former girlfriend and Bad Boy artist, Cassie, at the now-closed InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles.
The surveillance footage, dating back to 2016, shows Diddy chasing Ventura, who was seen standing at a set of elevators, and proceed to grab and shove her to the ground. He then kicks her, and takes what appears to be her purse and suitcase from the floor. Diddy then drags her by her sweater towards a room. Ventura is later seen slowly getting up and collecting items from the floor.

Diddy returns moments later, sits on a chair, grabs an object off a table, and throws it at Ventura. He is then seen walking away, but turns back toward Ventura when an elevator door opens and someone exits.
Ventura’s attorney, Douglas H. Wigdor, told CNN: “The gut-wrenching video has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behavior of Mr. Combs. Words cannot express the courage and fortitude that Ms. Ventura has shown in coming forward to bring this to light.”
In November, Cassie, born Cassandra Ventura, initiated legal proceedings against Diddy, born Sean Combs, alleging years of control, rape, and prolonged physical abuse spanning over a decade. The two parties reached a settlement 24 hours later.

Akademiks, born Livingston Allen, has been sued for sexual assault, rape, and defamation.
The civil suit, filed by his ex-girlfriend Ziya Abashe in Essex County, NJ, on Monday, accuses Akademiks of rape and defamation. According to her attorney Tyrone Blackburn, the suit states that in July 2022, Akademiks invited Abashe to his house, where two of his male friends allegedly drugged her, got her drunk, and raped her.
The lawsuit further alleges that Abashe woke up naked in what she believed to be Mr. Allen’s bedroom around 4 a.m., where she was savagely attacked by Mr. Allen, who allegedly pulled her hair, pried open her legs, and brutally raped her.
Abashe claims to have seen video footage of the incident from surveillance cameras at the property. She also stated that Akademiks asked her to get tested afterward, saying he would do the same. The survivor reported taking a rape kit and making an audio recording of Akademiks discussing the act, as directed by the police.
“I look crazy right now but I’m not going to stand here and let this man continue to lie about me. That’s not what happened Akademiks, you know that’s not what happened,” she said during an Instagram Live in 2023.
Rolling Stone, who first reported the lawsuit, reached out to Akademiks who has not responded for comment.
