Nicki Minaj Slams Latto While Calling Out Grammys for Moving ‘Super Freaky Girl’ From Rap to Pop Category
Published

On Thursday (Oct. 13), the GRAMMYs released the list of artists who submitted their music for consideration. Among the artists on that list was Nicki Minaj who submitted her latest single, “Super Freaky Girl” for GRAMMY consideration in the rap category.
However, the New York rapper was met with a surprised when the Recording Academy committee reportedly moved the record from rap to a pop category. “I have no prob being moved out the RAP category as long as we r ALL being treated FAIRLY,” she tweeted Thursday evening.
“I have no prob being moved out the RAP category as long as we r ALL being treated FAIRLY,” Minaj tweeted late Thursday, in response to reports that her submission had been moved out of her chosen category. “If SFG (‘Super Freaky Girl’) has 2B moved out RAP then so does Big Energy!” she continued, referring to the Latto‘s hit single. “ANY1 who says diff is simply a Nicki hater or a troll.”
Nicki Minaj continued on Instagram Live where she stated, “Now, let’s say that ‘Super Freaky Girl’ is a pop song. Let’s just say that. What is ‘Big Energy’? … If you move ‘Super Freaky Girl’ out of rap and put it in pop, do the same thing for ‘Big Energy.’ Same producers on both songs, by the way. So let’s keep shit fair. Even when I’m rapping on a pop track, I still out-rap.”
Minaj then hopped back on Twitter to call out Latto. She reportedly believes that she is not being fairly and Latto isn’t speaking up about “Big Energy” being a ‘pop’ song following their conversation via text.
This Karen has probably mentioned my name in over 100 interviews. Says she waited in line for Pink Friday w|her Barbie chain on, bangs, pink hair…but today, scratch off decides to be silent; rather than speak up for the black woman she called her biggest inspiration. 🫡☺️😘 pic.twitter.com/jYSmQ955TI

Latto responded to Minaj after posting their conversation and referred to the “We Go Up” rapper as a bully.
I’ve ignored countless subtweets since March and instead addressed u in the dm. You’re asking why I didn’t speak up in ur defense… it’s the same answer I gave u when u asked why I didn’t congratulate you. Ur literally older than my mom tryna be a bully @NICKIMINAJ

May 3, 2024It’s been an entertaining two weeks as Drake and Kendrick Lamar have been sparring in a lyrical battle.
Since Kendrick’s diss towards Drake on Metro Boomin and Future‘s We Don’t Trust You track, “Like That,” Drake returned fire with two diss tracks titled, “Push Ups” and “Taylor Made Freestyle,” Kendrick Lamar then returned with two tracks towards Drake titled, “Euphoria” and “6:16 in LA.”
The two rappers aren’t done yet, as Drake has just released his response to Kendrick titled “Family Matters.” On the diss track, things get personal as Drake brings up Kendrick’s wife, Whitney Alford.
“Say you hate the girls I fuck but what you really mean / I been with Black and white and everything in between / You the Black messiah wifing up a mixed queen / And hit vanilla cream to help out with your self-esteem.”
Drake also implies that Kendrick’s kids aren’t his, but are actually Dave Free’s, Kendrick Lamar’s longtime creative partner.
“Why you never hold your son and tell him say cheese / We could have left the kids out of this don’t blame me,” he raps.
“Our sons should go play at the park / Two light-skinned kids, that shit would be cute / Unless you don’t want to be seen with anyone that’s Blacker than you”
