Troy Ave and Joey Badass’ beef seem to only be escalating after the diss record “Badass” was released last night by Troy Ave. Last week, Joey Badass dropped the track “Ready” in which he took a jab at Troy Ave’s record sales against P – “With the 80/20 split my nigga do the math/ My nigga Kirk just outsold Troy Ave.” The Brooklyn rappers have had exchanges in the past about who was the bigger independent artist.
What started as a regular diss record took a harsh turn when Troy Ave brought up Capital Steez in the third verse – “Steez burning in hell, my burner’s in my belt.” Steez, a founding member of Pro Era with Joey Badass, committed suicide in 2012. Many people online, including Hip Hop artist like ASAP Twelvvy are very upset with Troy Ave’s comment but he is not apologizing and even elaborated on his comments on Sway In The Morning.
