In 2017, podcast personality Taxstone, born Daryl Campbell, was arrested by U.S. Marshals New York, New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force and NYPD in connection to the shooting that took place at Irving Plaza back in 2016 which resulted in the death of Troy Ave’s bodyguard,  Ronald “Banga” McPhatter, and rapper Troy Ave being arrested, in which the rapper was freed on $500,000 bail.

Campbell was arrested in January 2017 after his DNA was found on the 9 mm handgun used in the shooting. He has remained incarcerated since, after being denied $500,000 bail, and pleading guilty to two federal weapons counts. However, it has now been revealed that he is facing murder, attempted murder, assault and weapons possession charges.

On Monday, March 13, Campbell was seen for the first time since his incarceration in the Manhattan Supreme Court room as he watch rapper Troy Ave, born Roland Collins, give his account of what happened during the shooting on May 25, 2016.

The NY Post, who was in the courtroom, gives a breakdown of Collins’ testimony where the rapper says he had to fight for his life.

“It looks like if you see people wrestle in high school wrestling — that type of position,” said Collins. “When the shot goes off I see the light from the spark and I hear the shot,” he testified. “This is all happening fast. I get up and start fighting Taxstone, trying to take him, grab the gun, and another shot goes off. I put my leg up to kind of block the shot from hitting me in the face or chest.”

Campbell then reportedly shot Collins in both legs. “I got up,” Collins said. “I’d rather die fighting. People die from leg shots. I’d rather die fighting than laying on the ground. I got up immediately.”

When Collins’ gun misfired, it was then that he noticed his bodyguard, McPhatter, laying face down on the ground.

“I rolled his body over and I’m like, ‘Banga, get up. Come on.’ I’m smacking him, like, ‘C’mon bro. Get up,’” Collins testified. “And his eyes were rolling to the back of his head. His shirt was red so I could tell he got shot.”

On Friday, May 17, CNN obtained footage showing Sean ‘Diddy‘ Combs physically assaulting his former girlfriend and Bad Boy artist, Cassie, at the now-closed InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles.

The surveillance footage, dating back to 2016, shows Diddy chasing Ventura, who was seen standing at a set of elevators, and proceed to grab and shove her to the ground. He then kicks her, and takes what appears to be her purse and suitcase from the floor. Diddy then drags her by her sweater towards a room. Ventura is later seen slowly getting up and collecting items from the floor.

Diddy returns moments later, sits on a chair, grabs an object off a table, and throws it at Ventura. He is then seen walking away, but turns back toward Ventura when an elevator door opens and someone exits.

Ventura’s attorney, Douglas H. Wigdor, told CNN: “The gut-wrenching video has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behavior of Mr. Combs. Words cannot express the courage and fortitude that Ms. Ventura has shown in coming forward to bring this to light.”

In November, Cassie, born Cassandra Ventura, initiated legal proceedings against Diddy, born Sean Combs, alleging years of control, rape, and prolonged physical abuse spanning over a decade. The two parties reached a settlement 24 hours later.

Akademiks Sued for Rape, Sexual Assault and Defamation miixtapechiick

Akademiks, born Livingston Allen, has been sued for sexual assault, rape, and defamation.

The civil suit, filed by his ex-girlfriend Ziya Abashe in Essex County, NJ, on Monday, accuses Akademiks of rape and defamation. According to her attorney Tyrone Blackburn, the suit states that in July 2022, Akademiks invited Abashe to his house, where two of his male friends allegedly drugged her, got her drunk, and raped her.

The lawsuit further alleges that Abashe woke up naked in what she believed to be Mr. Allen’s bedroom around 4 a.m., where she was savagely attacked by Mr. Allen, who allegedly pulled her hair, pried open her legs, and brutally raped her.

Abashe claims to have seen video footage of the incident from surveillance cameras at the property. She also stated that Akademiks asked her to get tested afterward, saying he would do the same. The survivor reported taking a rape kit and making an audio recording of Akademiks discussing the act, as directed by the police.

“I look crazy right now but I’m not going to stand here and let this man continue to lie about me. That’s not what happened Akademiks, you know that’s not what happened,” she said during an Instagram Live in 2023.

Rolling Stone, who first reported the lawsuit, reached out to Akademiks who has not responded for comment.
